5/3/2023 0 Comments Philips somneo vs smartsleepI find this option so useful because I'm able to simply turn the light on through my phone from anywhere in my house and expect my bedroom to be illuminated in relaxing orange hues as I make my way upstairs to get ready for bed - I barely use my actual lamp anymore. The device works as a lamp and reading light that you can turn on and off at your convenience. Next, I played around with the 25 light intensity levels. Once I got that out of the way, I tested out the FM radio it worked fine, but the sound quality is not top-notch (though I don't necessarily care to play the radio from my sunrise alarm clock anyway). There's an option that will automatically dim the clock display as it gets dark if you prefer to see the time in the evening, and you can also adjust the display brightness. I also detest looking at the time as I'm dozing off, so the first thing I did was turn off the clock brightness on my Smartsleep. I like absolute darkness in my bedroom because even small or dim lights can influence my sleep negatively. Once the device was successfully connected to my iPhone, I browsed through the various features on the SleepMapper app. Setup is a simple two-step process and pairing the devices took me approximately five minutes. While the basic Philips Connected functions can be activated using analog controls on the device, to enjoy its best features you have to download the SleepMapper app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, which allows you to customize your wake-up and fall-asleep experience. Its effectiveness is backed by research, and based on my experience, I believe many people would benefit from all the features that this sunrise alarm clock offers. I've continued using it for more than two months and it's provided me with a more natural and pleasant wake-up and sleep experience, reduced the effects of my SAD, improved my sleep quality, and enhanced my mood. While interviewing experts, researching, and testing products for our best sunrise alarm clock guide, I came across the Philips Smartsleep Connected, which we ultimately named our best overall pick. But I don't think it'll save the blue blur just yet. If you've played ten and twenty Sonic fan games before (it even reminds me of the Sonic Worlds Engine) this kind of doesn't look very professional. I am kind of laughing a bit, because there's not even any polish to this. It's interesting to note that this would be Whitehead's first finished game, as Retro and Retro Nexus were both never completed due to his work on the 2011 Sonic CD. He also made Sonic Chrono Adventure afterwards, which can be downloaded here.īoth of these are highly recommended, and will prepare you for Sonic Mania. Lake Fepard said that it feels like he's already played it before. (23-07-2016, 09:49 PM)TheFallenAlchemist Wrote: It's a fan game, basically. I just hope this does well so this can become a sub-series. I know that this feels "Fangame-y", but Whitehead has worked on OFFICAL sonic ports n stuff, as well as having stealth's crew(who made the fantasic Sonic MegaMix Hack BTW.) makes me have high hopes for this game. I really like the sprite work on this! This is the evoultion of genesis sonic's sprites in the modern day(More colors, smoother animation etc.). By the way, does anybody else have the impulse to say "Mega Man Mania" instead of "Sonic Mania", every time you try to say "Sonic Mania"? Just curious. When I first heard that we might be getting a 2D Sonic game next year, I was intrigued - and now I'm in love. In conclusion, all I can really say is that I am excited. Also, does anybody else think the music is pure gold? Studiopolis, anyone? (Also, it's done by Tee Lopes, so *BOOM!* - added layer of awesome) I also think that this could be one of my favorite Sonic games ever and maybe one of the best in general. Even if you don't agree, this game is made by fans anyway, so it doesn't matter - as long as Mania is good and fun. And, I'm willing to bet my money that Sonic Mania is going to be at least as good - if not better - than all of the recent Sonic fan games (in graphics AND game play). Ultimately, FallenAlchemist, you said yourself that you will most likely be purchasing Sonic Mania - so, why would you purchase a game that you felt was unpolished? At least, if it mattered in any real capacity, so much so that you felt the need to complain? In any fashion, I'm not attacking you - and you can think whatever you like. Regardless of how the graphics make you feel, they have no impact on the game play - and, the game looks fun, so there's no reason to worry. And that's fine - I'm not picking on the fan games - but, if you think this game has less polish than those games, then I really just don't know what else to say. Also, as nice as After the Sequel and Chrono Adventure look, they absolutely do not look as polished as this game (which makes sense, because Sega has the resources to make better and more consistently polished graphics). It just makes sense to use a more modern graphical style than the genesis era, while also taking inspiration from some of the recent fan games. The project is almost completely in the hands of fans - and the graphics remind me of more recent Sonic fan games, which is part of the reason why I like them. Most of all, this game makes me fell like Sega is finally listening to their fans, which is amazing. It retains the classic game play (with some minor tweaks) and the graphics fit this type of game (modern-throwback title). I don't know for sure if you could realistically recreate these graphics on the Genesis (though I highly doubt that) - however, this games just seems so brilliant to me. Second, I'll say that personally I do enjoy the art style - and though it hearkens back to the Genesis days - frankly, it reminded me (visually) of games like After the Sequel/Chrono Adventure to begin with. Chrono Adventure is actually a Metroidvania style Sonic game, you have to go back and forth through different zones and get powers and such.įirst of all, I absolutely agree with Lamda's last post. Seriously, play those games I recommended. But Mania just looks like something I've already played through. As long as Sega is still appealing to 2D game fans, that's fine with me. But there's also Project Sonic, which I know nothing about. I think that's what a lot of fans and game reviewers will say as well. I don't know, it just would look a bit better in that HD style, I guess. (23-07-2016, 10:09 PM)TheFallenAlchemist Wrote: I took a look at it again. If you don't feel like reading this, feel free to move along. Anyway, I'm not trying to create a lynch mob against you, I'm just throwing my hat in the ring and giving my thoughts (including those on your thoughts) on Sonic Mania. Edit: I posted this before I saw your last post, FallenAlchemist. 5/3/2023 0 Comments Tofu recipesSince Tofu has a pretty neutral flavor like Chicken, it makes the perfect meat substitute in this dish!
